Gynecomastia is a medical term that stems from the Greek “woman-like breasts.” It is considered quite common; (40-60 percent of men), affecting one breast or both. Though certain drugs and medical problems have been linked with male breast overdevelopment, there is no known cause in the vast majority of cases. This procedure is performed on an out-patient basis under general anesthesia in our fully accredited on-site surgical suite.
The best candidates for this surgery are healthy men of any age with firm, elastic skin that will reshape to the body’s new contours. Surgery may be discouraged for obese or overweight men, who have not attempted to correct the problem with diet and exercise. In any case, Dr. Pratt or Dr. Bednar will work with you individually and recommend the procedure that is right for you and which will come closest to the desired result.
